Evidence before confidence
Sources and evidence register
The launch dataset covers 75 inhabitants and 35 tank-mate guides. Every profile exposes its own evidence trail.
Taxonomy
GBIF Backbone Taxonomy is used to check accepted scientific names and taxonomic status. Genus-level records are explicitly labelled as groups rather than presented as a single species.
Natural history and distribution
FishBase, Animal Diversity Web, IUCN, government and museum resources help establish identity, native range, adult form and habitat context.
Aquarium husbandry
Established specialist references are cross-checked for temperature, pH, hardness, adult size, group behaviour and minimum footprint. No single aquarium source is treated as infallible.
Traceability
Field-level citation architecture is part of the data model. The current public preview shows record-level evidence; the next editorial pass will expose citations beside individual ranges.
